To configure spell checking on the fly in WPS Writer begin by opening the application and loading the document you wish to work on. When your document is loaded navigate to the top menu bar and click on the Review tab. Inside this section locate the Spell Check section and ensure that the option labeled Spell Check While Typing is enabled. If this feature is disabled simply click on it to turn it on. WPS Writer will now highlight incorrect spelling instantly using a red squiggly underline.


Beyond turning on live spell check you may also want to customize your spell check preferences to suit your needs. To access these settings go to the Tools menu at the top of the screen and select Options. When the Options dialog opens choose the Spelling & Grammar tab. Here you can adjust settings such as ignoring words in uppercase, ignoring words with numbers, and ignoring internet and file addresses. You might also turn on grammar detection by selecting the Check Grammar as You Type option if available.


It is important to note that WPS Writer uses the system's default language settings so make sure your document language is correctly set. To modify the proofing language highlight the text you want to apply the language to, then return to the Review tab and click on Language. Pick Set Proofing Language from the options and choose the correct language from the list. Do not enable the "Do Not Check Spelling or Grammar" option unless you specifically want to exclude that section from spell check.


If legitimate terms appear underlined as errors you can add them to your custom dictionary. Click the right mouse button on the flagged word and choose Add to Dictionary. It ensures the term won't trigger future spell check alerts. To manage your dictionary, revisit the Spelling & Grammar settings under Tools and click Customize Dictionary.


For an on-demand spell and grammar scan simply press F7 on your keyboard or click the Spell Check button in the Review tab. The program will review every word in your file pausing at each suspected error and offering suggestions for correction. By following these steps and keeping automatic spell check enabled you can significantly improve the accuracy and professionalism of your documents with minimal effort.
